On this website DER KURIER informs about the collection and further processing of personal data for the purpose of parcel delivery.
With the following information, we would give you an overview of the processing of your personal data by DER KURIER and your rights under the Data Protection Acts. The details of the data processed depend on the services you use. Therefore, not all parts of this information will apply to you.

1. Personal data
Personal data includes particulars on personal or factual circumstances of a specific or determinable individual person. This includes for instance information such as name, address, telephone number and email address.
Information that cannot be linked to a specific or determinable individual - such as statistical data - is not considered as personal data.

DER KURIER is subject to the regulations of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other relevant national data protection laws.
DER KURIER renders postal services for the public or contributes to rendering such services and is obliged to adhere to postal secrecy regulations. All employees of DER KURIER have committed themselves by signature to adhere to data secrecy and postal secrecy.

By means of technical and organizational security measures, DER KURIER do their best to protect personal data from loss or misuse. Personal data is processed only in systems which are protected by appropriate security measures according to the DER KURIER IT Security Policies. III. Consignment and Consignee Data
1. Data Categories, Purposes of Processing Personal Data and Legal Basis
We process personal data:
a) for the fulfillment of contractual obligations according to Art. 6 para. 1 b) GDPR
The processing of personal data is carried out to carry out the courier, express and postal service and the associated activities (billing, if necessary, settlement of claims) in the context of the contract with our customers (shipper / client). For this purpose, we process sender data such as address, contact details, bank details and other data according to the services commissioned by the sender.
For the provision of the service, we also process recipient data. These include name, address, zip code, city, country and signature.
Certain shipping services require additional personal information to fulfill the contract:

If packages are shipped to other countries (export), the required sender and recipient data are transmitted to a partner company in the destination country.
a) on the basis of your consent under Art. 6 para. 1 a) GDPR
Insofar as you have given us consent to the processing of your personal data for specific purposes (such as receiving newsletters, participating in a survey), lawful processing will take place on the basis of your consent. You can revoke your consent at any time. This also applies to consent given to us before the entry into force of the GDPR, i.e. before 25 May 2018. The revocation of consent is only effective for the future and does not affect the legality of the data processed until the revocation.
b) in the context of legitimate interests under Art. 6 para. 1 f) EU GDPR
If necessary, we process your personal data beyond the fulfillment of the contract for the protection of legitimate interests of DER KURIER or third parties. This includes processing for the purpose of quality management, marketing, complaint management and for controlling purposes.
c) due to legal obligations according to Art.6 Par. 1 c) GDPR
As a company, we are subject to various legal requirements, such as the fulfillment of taxation and reporting obligations, customs requirements for exports to non-EU countries as well as inspection obligations under the Foreign Trade and Payments Act.
DER KURIER processes personal consignor, consignment and consignee data exclusively for the purposes stated above. A further use of this data does not take place.
Compliance with the applicable statutory regulations on data protection is an original duty of DER KURIER. The transfer of data by a consignor to DER KURIER is no processing of data on behalf of others. Corresponding agreements (order processing contracts) with DER KURIER are not necessary.
The consignor is also responsible for the proper collection of this data and in particular the consent of the consignee to the transmission of his e-mail address and / or telephone number to DER KURIER, if this is necessary for special services.
If you have any questions about this procedure, please contact your contractual partner (the consignor). You can also express your withdrawal of consent towards DER KURIER. In this case please use the contact details of the DER KURIER Data Protection Manager.
3. Data Sharing and Recipients
Within the DER KURIER network, those entities gain access to your data, which they need to fulfill their contractual and legal obligations. Even service providers and agents employed by DER KURIER may receive data for these purposes, provided that they comply with the applicable legal provisions. DER KURIER is processing personal data as long as it is required for the purpose for which we use it. We will determine how long to retain the data based on the following requirements:
Operational requirements: such the length of time that information is needed in order to provide the services.
Legal requirements: such as where DER KURIER needs to retain records for a certain amount of time in order to comply with the law.
Archived data is stored on data carriers that are only accessible to authorized personnel. After expiry of the defined retention period, the data is deleted or destroyed.
